College Knowledge Foundation (CKF) is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to empowering high school students—particularly first-generation, low-income, and minority students, as well as veterans, adult learners, and foster youth—by providing the knowledge, tools, and resources they need to succeed in their college journey. Through our comprehensive sessions and personalized services, we bridge the gap between high school and college so every student, regardless of background, can achieve their educational goals.

Position Description

As an Instructional Designer Intern with College Knowledge Foundation, you will play a key role in shaping the learning experiences that students, parents, and schools receive from CKF. You will help transform our existing sessions, webinars, guides, and parent resources into structured, engaging, and instructionally sound curriculum materials. 

This includes developing full learning modules, building curriculum frameworks, creating activities and assessments, enhancing our printed and digital resources, and supporting the development of interactive tutorials for both students and families.

You will work closely with CKF leadership and content specialists to create clear, organized, and innovative educational materials that strengthen our mission. This internship is ideal for someone passionate about curriculum development, educational design, learning theory, and creating accessible and meaningful learning experiences.

Responsibilities

Curriculum and Program Development

  • Build structured curriculum for all CKF sessions with clear learning objectives, lesson flow, activities, and assessments.

  • Create a full year college planning curriculum that schools can use for classroom instruction, advisory periods, or after school programming.

  • Develop content outlines, lesson plans, worksheets, facilitator guides, and student materials across multiple CKF programs.

Interactive Learning Design

  • Help expand CKF’s interactive tutorial for students and parents by building learning modules, checkpoints, and guided activities.

  • Convert CKF webinars into polished online courses with organized content, visuals, and learning supports.

Resource and Product Development

  • Enhance CKF printed booklet series by improving structure, readability, exercises, and knowledge checks.

  • Build comprehensive training modules for parents that explain the college process in clear and accessible language.

  • Create templates or reusable instructional components that CKF can use long term.

Collaboration and Quality Assurance

  • Work closely with subject matter experts to translate complex information into learner friendly content.

  • Ensure all materials align with CKF branding and educational standards.

  • Review drafts for clarity, accuracy, and instructional effectiveness.

  • Contribute creative ideas that improve the learning experience for diverse audiences.

Hours

The weekly time commitment is negotiable and flexible. Most team meetings occur in the late afternoon Eastern Time to accommodate members’ full-time jobs.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Interest in curriculum development, instructional design, education, or a related field

  • Strong writing, editing, and organizational skills

  • Ability to present complex information in clear, accessible ways

  • Familiarity with learning design principles or a willingness to learn

  • Experience developing lesson plans, educational content, or training materials is helpful but not required

  • Ability to work independently and collaborate with content specialists

  • Creativity and an interest in improving the learning experience for students and families
