Choosing The Right College

When it comes to choosing the right college, one might suggest a prestigious university, find the biggest name or gaze at the brightest lights, but college is not all about what you see. When you're choosing a college, you have to think about 3 M’s money, major and mindset.

Money

Is an all important factor in life, you need to acknowledge how much of it you have in order to pick the right college. Whether you need a payment plan, or your parents, having money, and knowing how to spend that money is an important part of your life.

Major

Is the basis of why you are pursuing higher education, and it determines the type of work you want to pursue. When it comes to a major, you consider the best education through a University that specializes in that major. It's important to pick schools that benefit your major, as you will never see pre med go to a school that specializes in law, so make sure you do the research on your part. Think about the right fit for what you want, as that is more important than most students realize.

Mindset

Is the force that pushes you forward, asking yourself the key questions. Do you want to go to an Ivy League school, or do you want to be in a more common University? Do you want to live in the city, or are you looking for something more close to home? Ask yourself the right questions of what you want, and don't always go with what you're told to do, because this is Your future. When you think about all of these things, don't be afraid to make hard decisions. Understand that you will have to get into a routine for your college life, because it's not the same as high school. You're going to be living a new lifestyle, going to classes, living in your home/dorm, studying, enjoying weekends, it's all new, so get ready.

Lastly…

If you are having a hard time choosing, take some time to yourself, don't just base your decision on what you're told to do, but what is best for you. A lot of the time, people make decisions that aren't the best for them, ask anyone, and they will tell you about people who have dropped out, switched schools, changed majors and friend groups, all because they didn't make the right choices.

Take your time, find your path, and walk it with the right mindset. In college, you will take a more hands on approach for Your future, so embrace it, don't be afraid and Goodluck!
