Choose The Right Professor

College is a time where you embark on your journey to higher education, and while one might be excited about dorming, making new friends and the start of something new, there are important details that are of great importance. One thing that might interest most students is the difference between professors. Everyone always worries about the colleges that they want to go to, but when you get to college, don't forget about the people who teach you!

Ask any college student, and they will talk about the good or bad professors they've had. You may have heard stories of professors who are egotistical, bad graders, and even unintelligible. But there are also stories of long lasting friendships, connections and reliability that professors have been. I'm not here to discredit any professor that works at their respective universities, since they have gone to school and have been approved by their superiors, but there comes a time where certain professors, regardless of intention, lack the adaptability of their students' needs. I've had friends tell me about professors who only operate by their syllabus, certain homework assignments, and dissect certain course material, but these are the circumstances in which we live by. A lot of the time, you can't change how your professor will teach, but you still have the power to select the teacher that you want.

Before selecting your professor, go rate my professor, and other rating sites, in order to see the reviews behind the professor that you may select. Get up as early as you can to secure the schedule that you want, with the professors that you know will give you a genuine experience. I personally have been very lazy when it comes to choosing my professors, and it has come back to bite me during the semester. However, during my last couple of semesters, I have been able to get the professors that I wanted, and it has made a world of a difference. Never let your experience be hindered, and pay attention to the details that matter, especially with the people who will teach you everyday.
