I am a Back-End Developer Intern on the App Development Team at College Knowledge Foundation as part of the College Swipe Committee. My focus is on building and optimizing the server-side architecture, APIs, and database systems that power the College Swipe app.
CKF's mission hits close to home for me. I was a first-generation college goer in my family, and the application process was genuinely confusing. None of it was intuitive and there was no roadmap. I had to figure it out largely on my own. That's exactly the problem CKF is trying to solve, and the idea of building a tool that makes that process more accessible and personalized for students in the same position I was in is something I genuinely care about. Getting to contribute on the technical side and building the systems really makes this feel like more than just an internship.
I aim to build experience and knowledge as a developer and to be able to contribute to the College Swipe App. In this process I hope to get more hands-on experience with working with Scala, RESTful APIs and MySQL, and use that knowledge to help create something valuable for the students navigating the college process.
